Cobras and Crusaders Named for Saturday
Sittingbourne will bring a strong line-up with them when they arrive in Hoddesdon for Saturday’s Conference League KO Cup tie. Included in their named team are doubling-up Mildenhall Fen Tiger Mark Baseby, former Berwick, Stoke and Long Eaton regular Dean Felton and former 5 year Raider Barry Burchatt. Also confirmed are another 5 season Raider in Harland Cook, and highly rated prospect Jerran Hart, who grabbed 4 points for Newport at Rye last Saturday.
The Kart Raceway Cobras, meanwhile will give three-time New Zealand U-21 Champion Andrew Aldridge his first competitive team start in Britain. In addition to Aldridge, there will be formal Rye debuts for Rob Smith, Terry Day and Richard Franklin. The Cobras will operate Rider-Replacement for the sidelined Danny Betson, while Danny Halsey is committed to the Silver Ski Rockets, who are in Premier League action at Workington the same night.
The main fifteen heats will be followed by six additional ones, as Rye entertain Poole in their first match in the 2008 Academy League. The Rye team for this match will include recent signing and British U-15 Champion Daniel Greenwood, who looks set to challenge for a Cobras team place on his 15th birthday in June.
